Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye’s legal representatives are actively defending him and asserting his innocence while raising concerns over how the ongoing legal proceedings are impacting his career and mental health.

The TV personality returned to court on Monday at the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his attorney, Henry Motsemme, depicted a figure burdened by public scrutiny and legal challenges.

Motsemme highlighted in court that Maarohanye found it increasingly hard to maintain his professional life since the allegations surfaced.

“He can’t get [as much] work as he used to. It’s a big problem for him,” Motsemme said.

The attorney also touched upon Maarohanye’s emotional well-being, noting that his client experiences considerable frustration as the allegations continue to emerge when he seeks to progress in life.

“He feels very sad that such things keep coming up when he’s doing all he can to try and be a productive member of society,” Motsemme said.

Motsemme firmly rejected the charges against his client.

“He didn’t kidnap anyone, he didn’t fire anything at anyone,” he stated, expressing confidence in the court’s eventual ruling in favor of his client.

“Eventually, the court will clear him; he will be cleared,” Motsemme said.

Overview of Jub Jub’s Legal Situation

The allegations relate to an alleged incident involving an e-hailing driver in Edenvale, Ekurhuleni, on June 14. It is reported that Maarohanye confronted the driver, accusing him of having an affair with his girlfriend. The situation escalated, leading to the driver allegedly being forced into Maarohanye’s vehicle, with a firearm reportedly fired in his direction. The driver was unharmed and later reported the occurrence to law enforcement.

The National Prosecuting Authority has previously confirmed that a pellet gun was found at Maarohanye’s residence during the inquiry.

He is currently facing charges related to the possession of an imitation firearm with the intention to commit an offense and pointing an object that could be perceived as a real firearm. Earlier charges, including kidnapping, illegal discharge of a firearm, and obstruction of justice, were initially part of the case.

The State informed the court that its investigations are finished and that it is ready to proceed. The hearing has been postponed to 17 September.
