S’BO GYRE has transformed the notion of resigning from a 9-to-5 position into music with his latest single, “I Quit (9.2.5),” which highlights the journey of leaving a corporate job in favor of embracing a creative career.

The song resonates with the common experience of wishing to escape a traditional workplace. For S’BO GYRE, this theme became particularly relevant when he chose to resign from his own full-time job to dedicate more time to music, performing, and pursuing his artistic ambitions.

“I Quit (9.2.5)” is not a recent concept for S’BO GYRE. The song was penned in 2022 following his reflections on exiting a 9-to-5 role. He has held onto the song for four years, waiting for an opportune time to release it, which coincided with his personal transition.

During this time, the track has been introduced to audiences beyond the studio. S’BO GYRE has performed it at various events, including Basha Uhuru, Trace Sessions, and Back to the City, giving fans a glimpse of the song before its official debut.

Musically, “I Quit (9.2.5)” ventures into an electronic pop-rap genre, adding depth to S’BO GYRE’s evolving sound. This release is part of a broader trajectory that has seen him blend rap, pop, and various styles while focusing on telling personal stories.

His earlier works include the debut album Queernomics and the forthcoming Altar Call in 2024. The latter showcases a variety of musical influences and features tracks such as “Skating” featuring Namakau Star, “Phunga” featuring Trinity Tunez, “Sonini,” and “Born Again.” Other singles released during this phase include “Pele Pele,” “Ukhethe Mina,” “Scatta” featuring VenusRaps, and “Bounce” featuring LTO.

The arrival of “I Quit (9.2.5)” marks a significant point in S’BO GYRE’s artistic journey, with the song’s theme mirroring a decision he has recently embraced.

This track recontextualizes a song that has been in the making since 2022. After years of live performances and refining it, S’BO GYRE has now released “I Quit (9.2.5),” effectively bringing the discussion of leaving the 9-to-5 workforce into the current moment.
