Kylian Mbappé is departing the France national team camp due to a knee tendon injury sustained during the Nations League match against Turkey, which ended in a 1-0 win for France.

The forward from Real Madrid netted the game-winning goal in Zinedine Zidane’s inaugural outing as coach. However, his celebrations turned to worry as he began to feel discomfort in his knee. Immediately following the incident, Mbappé was substituted as a cautionary measure, and it was decided he would not participate further during the international break.

Zidane announced after the match that Mbappé will return to Real Madrid to undergo further examinations and treatment from the club’s medical staff.

This decision implies that the France captain will miss the remainder of the current international period, as Zidane and the medical team prefer to err on the side of caution instead of risking further injury by keeping him with the squad.

According to Zinedine Zidane:

Tests conducted at Real Madrid will clarify the severity of the knee tendon injury and establish Mbappé’s recovery timeline.

For the time being, France will proceed without their captain throughout the remaining international break, as Real Madrid awaits assessment results.

Mbappé’s swift return to Madrid enables the club to oversee his recovery process, ensuring he is not rushed back into action before he is fully fit.
