In a conversation with SA Hip Hop Mag, the rapper emphasized that the track conveys a straightforward message to men regarding their treatment of women.

“I’m simply telling them to spoil their women and shower them with money and gifts,” Big Xhosa stated. “There is no complicated message.”

He expressed that the song aims to motivate men to appreciate women more while encouraging women to advocate for what they deserve.

“I want us to start showing appreciation to women. They are the greatest and the best gift God gave to men. They should be treated like eggs. That’s what I want you to think of when listening to this song,” he added.

While “Wapheni Imali” adopts a lighthearted approach, Big Xhosa noted that his overall style has taken on a more serious tone. He previously utilized humor as a strategy to grow his audience, but this phase, he indicated, is now concluded.

“That is not the case with my music currently. That used to be the case because I wanted to use humour to build a platform. I’ve since taken a different direction, and my music is very serious,” he explained.

Big Xhosa’s rise to popularity began with a viral diss track that allowed him to gain significant visibility in the music scene. He has since been focused on leveraging this attention for a sustainable career.

“It’s opened doors for me and allowed me to make a living doing what I love and never have to work a job; that’s how it changed my life,” he remarked.

The rapper characterized his post-breakthrough journey as one of ongoing development, explaining that the initial viral success was merely the starting point.

“It has been a journey of learning and growing. The diss track gave me the attention, but I had to show people that I could actually build a career,” he stated.

One of the significant hurdles Big Xhosa encountered during his career has been operating without the support of a record label.

“Honestly speaking, the challenges have always been not having a record label or financial support behind the talent. That restricts one from bringing the full vision to life,” he shared.

Despite the absence of backing, his confidence in his skills has been pivotal for him. “I believe in myself so much; I’m my biggest fan. Faith in myself has kept me going. I know and have always proven to myself that I will eventually win,” Big Xhosa commented.

Beyond the release of the single, Big Xhosa has embarked on a new chapter in his career with Asanda Empires. He is enthusiastic about the potential outcomes of this collaboration and is aiming for notable advancement.

“I’m hoping for a fruitful partnership, and that we become the biggest in the game. Watch out!” he concluded.

With “Wapheni Imali” promoting the value of women and his new management potentially paving the way for future endeavors, Big Xhosa seems determined to grow beyond the viral success that first garnered him attention.
