Cassper Nyovest is believed to have replied to MacG following the podcaster’s criticism of his Billiato brand, which generated considerable conversation among South Africans.

MacG’s remark occurred during a live event associated with the launch of his own Chillers Lager, seeming to take a jab at Cassper’s gin brand. The timing was notable, as the relationship between the two parties had already soured over remarks made by MacG and co-host Sol Phenduka related to a tragic incident involving runner Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo on their Podcast and Chill show.

Cassper has been outspoken in his disapproval of the podcasters, calling attention to what he considers a pattern of disrespectful commentary. He has had confrontations with the Chillers group, stating he would not participate in future episodes.

“lol, this one thinks I’m a rookie.”

This post was widely interpreted as a direct reaction to MacG’s comment about Billiato, although Cassper did not specify the podcaster’s name.

The response garnered numerous reactions, with opinions sharply divided on whether Cassper acted wisely or fell into a trap set by MacG.

@Mpho_NP commented:

“He was responding to your tweets, and we all know your gin is not selling”

@Lazarusshilaby2 stated:

“He wasn’t lying. 1st it was your music, now alcohol. You failed literally.”

@NorthLondonFine noted:

“He is easily rage-baited; MacG knows it 😂😂😂”

@sipho_93 agreed:

“He’s playing you and guess what?…you biting 😂😂😂, this is why we love MacG, he understands banter and has a way to ragebait guys like you”

@MogolwaneMaatla remarked:

“You talked about him for 2 weeks; you thought he wasn’t gonna reply, huh? 😒”

@surr_mike1 offered an alternative perspective:

“Genuine ask, isn’t that free PR? Though? Like, look, it’s got people thinking about the brand. Maybe the lemons are being turned into lemonade after all?”

@EtherRuin provided a critical viewpoint:

“This is what you want to focus on. The country is burning now. You didn’t say anything about it, but you expect the very same people you are not fighting for to go buy that tasteless gin of yours. You guys don’t deserve our support. We always stream but can’t return the favour by standing with us.”

@TheeSoulMaster kept it succinct:

“Truth hurts sometimes. But it passes also.”
