The seasoned rapper has observed numerous musicians engaging in the challenging environment, where they produce music under stress, but he fears that any missteps could result in unfavorable publicity.

“I’m not going to the Speed Run. Everyone has been going there; they are having fun, and when everyone gets there, they’re making mistakes. Me when I get there, they are going to take that clip of me mumbling there and say, look at your favourite rapper. I’m not going there. Initiated by Nasty C under Tall Racks Music, this concept has gained significant traction within the South African hip-hop community. The sessions require artists to pick beats, write lyrics, and record demos in a limited timeframe, offering viewers a raw glimpse into the creative process. Fans have the opportunity to vote on which tracks they want to see further developed.

While the sessions have produced thrilling highlights for artists, they also capture the errors and unpredictability that accompany spontaneous music creation. Cassper Nyovest acknowledges the thrill but believes that those same moments might be used against him by detractors.

His statement underscores the challenges that established artists encounter in a time when brief clips can dominate online narratives. What may be an innocent studio incident for one musician could serve as fodder for mockery for another, especially when netizens are quick to turn a misstep into a viral sensation.

Opting to remain an observer rather than risk having a flawed moment shape the discourse around him, Cassper Nyovest’s choice reflects an awareness of how swiftly social media can amplify a situation. His remarks imply that his reservation is not about undermining the concept itself but rather a recognition of the potential for distortion in the digital age.

This perspective raises the question of whether veteran artists should take on such creative challenges or shield themselves from the potential criticism that may arise from participation. While some might view Speed Run as a chance to highlight their talents in an unpredictable setting, Cassper Nyovest is clear that he prefers to avoid that particular gamble.
