In February, she publicly shared her experiences in Cape Town, where she has relocated with her family. At that time, her mother, Anabela Runga, faced arrest for breaching the Immigration Act and Identification Act.<\/p>\n

Last year, the Department of Home Affairs announced that their inquiries into Chidimma\u2019s background uncovered that her mother was not a citizen of South Africa and had committed identity fraud while registering her birth.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Due to her mother’s status, both women were faced with the loss of their South African identification documents and travel passports. It is assumed that Chidimma has since acquired her Nigerian identity and travel papers.<\/p>\n
