Amapiano artist Young Stunna has sparked discussions on social media after displaying an eye-catching bill from a high-end restaurant in Cape Town. What was likely meant to be a celebratory share turned into a point of critique for many users online.
On 29 September 2025, the musician, known for the hit “Adiwele,” shared images of his dining experience at Utopia Restaurant, a premier fine-dining location in Cape Town. Recently, Young Stunna treated himself to a new luxury vehicle, and it was clear he was embracing a celebratory mood. His Instagram story featured opulent dishes, drinks, and a receipt that caught the attention of many across South Africa.
The bill detailed a seafood platter costing R5,250, alongside various high-end drinks, with a service fee of R769, making the grand total R7,184. Although Stunna appeared eager to showcase this moment, numerous South Africans expressed their disapproval.
One user on X remarked: “Paying 5k for a seafood platter is the most outrageous and diabolical thing I’ve seen today.” Another expressed stronger criticism, stating: “Celebrities NEVER LEARN, especially the ones in Mzansi. It’s tiring always having to save them with donations, but when they have money, they eat prawns worth R7000.”
This backlash highlights a growing dissatisfaction among fans who perceive that local celebrities often exhibit wealth without factoring in future financial stability. Observers noted that given the unpredictable aspects of the music industry, excessive spending could lead to difficulties in the future. Some recalled instances of artists who once enjoyed lavish lifestyles but later encountered financial challenges.
Currently, Young Stunna appears unfazed, choosing to revel in his achievements and indulge in life’s luxuries. Regardless of public sentiment, his spending in Cape Town has certainly captured the attention of the nation.
