Halala! In 2025, Zee Nxumalo demonstrated her prowess in the industry, leading to these achievements.
The 2026 Metro FM Awards nominations event presented the nominees for the ceremony scheduled for April 2026 in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
Zee Nxumalo’s nominations
Smash Afrika and Lamiez Holworthy served as the hosts for the evening.
Alongside various presenters, they revealed the names of artists competing for top honors in different categories. This year’s nominations event, held in Hyde Park, Johannesburg, recognized Zee Nxumalo with the highest number of nominations.
Performers on stage included the nominees Zee and MaWhoo, both of whom received five nominations.
Zee Nxumalo garnered seven nominations, while Sam Deep also received seven. However, as reported by IOL, Nxumalo expressed mixed feelings about her nominations, sharing that while she frequently receives nominations, winning has eluded her. She is nominated in categories such as Best Female, Best Styled, and Artist of the Year, among others.
MaWhoo achieved a tie with Ciza, another artist who also received five nominations for his popular track.
MaWhoo’s criticism of Ukhozi FM
While MaWhoo may be pleased with the Metro nominations, her sentiments towards Ukhozi FM’s Ingoma Ehlukanisa Unyaka competition are less favorable.
The Amapiano singer shared a video voicing her dissatisfaction with the radio station regarding the Song of the Year competition. Her song made it to the top 10 in 2025, marking a significant milestone in her career.
Her track Bengicela, featuring GL_Ceejay, Thuthukela, and Jazzwrld, was in the running for the Song of the Year title, requiring fan votes for Ingoma E. However, many voters reported receiving a confirmation message for another artist instead.
In the video released by Piano Connect, MaWhoo remarked, “When many people vote for Ingoma E, the thank you message that usually comes after voting is written in someone else’s name. So, I wanted to understand why this happens. I have been receiving numerous DMs from fans who also expressed concern over this. Others voted for me 17 times. Please correct this, as I do not want my efforts to go to waste.”
“I was very happy when my song made it to the Ukhozi FM top 10 list. Then the next thing, this happens. No, this means our efforts are being wasted.”
