Over the weekend, South African actor Zola Hashatsi paid tribute to the late DJ and producer DJ Dimplez, commemorating four years since his untimely death on 6 March 2022.
Born Tumi Moeketsi, DJ Dimplez passed away at the age of 29 due to a brain haemorrhage in Johannesburg, which left his fans, fellow artists, and the music industry deeply affected.
The acclaimed DJ was instrumental in the evolution of contemporary South African hip-hop, combining innovative sounds with precise production, which boosted local artists and transformed the landscape of the genre.
In his message, Hashatsi reflected on Dimplez’s commitment, professionalism, and foresight, emphasizing the significant influence he had on emerging artists and the overall music scene.
Dimplez’s rise from producing grassroots mixtapes to headlining major festivals showcased his talent and relentless ambition, serving as inspiration for a new wave of musicians.
