DanceAfrika has announced the launch of Beyond Toshi (DA020), marking a significant moment in Toshi’s career with this deeply personal album. The collection of 12 tracks was made available on major streaming services on Friday, April 3, 2025.
This album takes listeners on an emotional exploration of themes such as love, identity, resilience, and spiritual evolution. Beyond Toshi represents a broad range of contemporary African music, fusing styles like Afro-Soul, Afro-House, Neo-Gospel, and African Electronica into a unified and impactful work that contributes to South African music.
“Beyond Toshi is everything I’ve been building towards. It’s bigger than music — it’s a statement of who I am and where African sound is going,” said Toshi.
The album’s collaborations were selected for their artistic significance, prioritizing creative synergy over commercial interests. Beyond Toshi features a notable roster of contributors, including Bokkieult, Cuebur, BC, Shona SA, Catzico, Frost, Spice, Inzima, Black Motion, Alie Keys, LATTY, Way Kay, Big Sbuda, and Cazzyy, all of whom enrich the album’s storytelling across its twelve tracks.
Before the full album launch, the lead single “Omale” featuring Bokkieult and the second single “Sikelela” featuring Shona SA were released, both accompanied by their official music videos.
