The Ghana national under-17 football team faces a tough draw for the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, which will occur in Morocco from May 13 to June 2, 2026, as reported by Softfootball.
The Ghana Football Association announced via their official X account that Ghana will be in Group D. They will compete against the national under-17 teams of Algeria, Senegal, and South Africa, marking this group as one of the more competitive sections of the tournament.
The statement read:
🚨 #BlackStarlets will begin the 2026 U-17 AFCON campaign against Algeria on 14th May, followed by a clash with Senegal on 17th May, before facing South Africa on 20th May. 📌🇬🇭

The Black Starlets are set to begin their group stage against Algeria on May 14 at 19:00 GMT. Following that match, they will take on Senegal on May 17 at 16:00 GMT and conclude the group phase against South Africa on May 20 at 19:00 GMT.
The tournament carries significant importance, as it also serves as a pathway to the FIFA U-17 World Cup. The eight teams that reach the quarter-finals, along with the two best third-placed squads, will secure their spots, allowing ten African teams to participate.

In other news, Ghana’s senior team named Carlos Queiroz as the new head coach on April 16, 2026. The 73-year-old replaces Otto Addo, who was dismissed on March 31, 2026, indicating a shift in leadership across the national teams.
