South African actress Luyanda Zwane has made headlines, detailing a disturbing incident where a co-star “pointed a gun” at her while they were traveling in a production vehicle to film Sibongile and the Dlaminis.
LUYANDA ZWANE REVEALS THAT A GUN WAS POINTED AT HER
During a frank conversation with Shamiso Mosaka and Phil Mphela on their Read The Room podcast on July 2, Luyanda was prompted to discuss the issue of being discouraged from voicing concerns about wrongdoing.
She disclosed that her decision not to return for season two of Sibongile and the Dlaminis was influenced by the inaction regarding the actions of her colleague.
“I was part of a highly popular show; everyone recognizes Sibongile and the Dlaminis. I experienced something serious on the set of Sibongile and the Dlaminis,” she shared.
She continued, “I recall that day vividly; it was around 05:00 in the morning, still dark outside, and I had 20 scenes to shoot. I just wanted some peace and quiet in the car.”
“So I asked him [the co-star], bro, could you please refrain from playing music at this moment? Then he pulled out a gun and pointed it at me, saying, this is not your mother’s car,” she recounted.

THE PRODUCTION COMPANY DIDN’T SUPPORT LUYANDA
The young actress expressed that she did not receive support from the production team during this traumatic situation.
“I approached the producers, explaining, guys, this is what occurred, but they replied, did you die? Nothing happened. He didn’t fire the weapon, so can you just go to set because we’re running out of time,” she mentioned.
The producers arranged a meeting to create a “common ground” without bringing in law enforcement. Luyanda suggested that they refrain from putting her in the same vehicle as the actor in question due to how unsafe he made her feel.
“The resolution was [that] I don’t want to share a car with him from now on. I feel genuinely unsafe. My performance relies heavily on my mental health, so if that is compromised, I won’t be able to do my job well,” she detailed.
Sadly, this arrangement did not last long.
“They enforced that for a week or two, but afterward, they told me, ‘You’re actually affecting our budget, so can you please decide what you want to do,” she revealed.
MISCONDUCT ON SET IS SEEMINGLY ON THE RISE
In May 2026, actress Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku shared her story about an incident involving her former co-star, Bonko Khoza, who allegedly sexually violated her during a scene of Red Ink.
This incident reportedly took place in September 2023, yet communications and meetings with the producers brought forth no beneficial outcomes.
Even the unions, which were meant to assist her, surprisingly dismissed her account.
In response, Bonko issued an official statement refuting the allegations against him.
“I will continue to protect my name, dignity, and reputation against these baseless claims. I intend to fully exercise my legal rights to resolve this issue definitively.”
