Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is poised to step in as the new head coach of the Germany national team following Julian Nagelsmann’s departure, according to a report from Softfootball.
Nagelsmann was let go by the German FA after Germany’s underwhelming performance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which ended with a defeat to Paraguay on penalties in the Round of 32.
This decision followed an emergency meeting held by the German Football Association (DFB), which lasted over three and a half hours to evaluate the team’s disappointing performance.

Germany’s elimination has added to the nation’s recent World Cup challenges, including group-stage exits in 2018 and 2022, leading the federation to seek a change in management.
Klopp, who is currently the Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull, is reportedly enthusiastic about assuming the role with the national team. At 59, he has been without a managerial position since departing Liverpool at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season and appears ready to embark on a new journey with Germany.
