Reports suggest that the ownership landscape at Chelsea may be shifting once again, as Todd Boehly and Mark Walter are contemplating the sale of their minority interests to Clearlake Capital, according to softfootball.
Boehly and Walter each own about 12.8% of Chelsea and are currently engaged in discussions regarding a potential transfer of their stakes to Clearlake, which holds majority ownership of the club.
Clearlake Capital has control over approximately 61.5% of the BlueCo consortium. Should the proposed share sales go through, the investment company would enhance its influence within the club.
The current ownership breakdown is as follows:
- Clearlake Capital — 61.5%
- Todd Boehly / Eldridge Industries — 12.8%
- Mark Walter / Guggenheim Partners — 12.8%
- Hansjörg Wyss / Wyss Foundation — 12.8%

Fewer major shareholders could potentially streamline Chelsea’s ownership framework and provide Clearlake with enhanced authority over the club’s future direction.
For supporters of Chelsea, the prospect of Clearlake solidifying its stake might be seen as a positive development if it results in a more coherent and consolidated ownership structure.
In the meantime, Chelsea is navigating transfer market activity, with Al Hilal expressing interest in winger Pedro Neto.
As of Monday morning, Chelsea had yet to receive an official offer for the 26-year-old Portugal international, despite the Saudi Pro League club intensifying its efforts.
