Michael Carrick has addressed inquiries regarding Lisandro Martínez’s revealing interview that followed Manchester United’s 2-0 loss to Atlético Madrid, acknowledging that the team’s disappointment made it an unsuitable time to offer comment.
The manager of Manchester United was questioned about Martínez’s statements after the game but clarified that he had not viewed the interview and preferred not to make any judgments without a complete understanding of the defender’s words.
In an interview with CBS, Carrick emphasized that his primary concern was the disappointing match outcome rather than the fallout from the Argentine defender’s comments.

“I haven’t seen it. After a game like this we’re disappointed. Sometimes it can be a little bit emotional as well,”
Carrick clarified.
He further indicated that he would refrain from discussing the matter until he had watched the interview, hinting that the emotions following the defeat could affect the interpretation of the situation.
I’ve not seen it, so now is not the right time for me to comment,
Carrick told CBS.
His remarks followed Atlético Madrid’s 2-0 triumph over Manchester United, where Ademola Lookman scored the goal that clinched the win for the Spanish side.
The defeat was disappointing for United, who failed to respond effectively against Diego Simeone’s squad. Atlético Madrid made the most of their chances, and Lookman’s goal proved to be the defining moment as they reinforced their position in the match.
Meanwhile, Martínez’s interview has garnered significant attention, with Carrick’s comments leaving uncertainties surrounding the defender’s remarks for now.
The United manager’s approach of postponing his judgment until he has seen the interview implies a desire to grasp the full context before making any public statements.
Currently, Manchester United must contend with the disappointment stemming from their defeat, while further insight regarding Martínez’s comments may develop once Carrick has an opportunity to review the interview.
