“I hope that he will be with us,” said the Moroccan coach.
Abdeslam Ouaddou, the coach of Orlando Pirates, has expressed his desire for Relebohile Mofokeng to stay with the team this season.
This statement follows recent rumors linking the 20-year-old striker to clubs abroad, including Minnesota United, a team in Major League Soccer, which reportedly made an offer of approximately $2 million (over R35 million) to acquire him.
Mofokeng featured in the starting eleven for Ouaddou during the Pirates’ recent league match, where they secured their first victory by defeating Stellenbosch FC 1-0 at Orlando Stadium, thanks to an outstanding goal from Kamogelo Sebelebele.
After the game, Ouaddou addressed questions regarding the speculation surrounding Mofokeng’s future, stating he was not aware of Minnesota’s interest as his attention was solely on the match against Stellenbosch.
“I’m sorry about that question. Today I was only focused on the game of Stellenbosch FC, I didn’t have time to look or read in the media,” said Ouaddou.
“What I know is that Rele [Relebohile Mofokeng] is with us, and today he did well, which means that he is with us, and I hope that he will be with us.
e freedom because he is a kind of player who is intelligent and clever. He is a player that you can’t just keep on one side or stick in one role.
“You need to give him freedom, and I think today he had a lot of freedom,” added Ouaddou.
