DJ Sliqe Shares His Decision to Move Away from Album Releases. The acclaimed South African DJ and producer, DJ Sliqe, is taking a new direction in his musical career—embracing a more lighthearted and spontaneous approach. The mastermind behind the popular Injayam series has announced he will be stepping back from traditional album releases to pursue a more vibe-centric creative path.

Reflecting on his current perspective, Sliqe stated, “I think it’s crucial to have fun in everything I do. That’s going to be my focus going forward.”
For those hoping for another in-depth, conceptual album, Sliqe advises them to temper expectations. He’s decided to pause on traditional album formats and instead, explore shorter, more impactful projects: “I’m pretty much done with Injayam. I want to shift away from serious projects. For now, I’ll be focusing on tapes, EPs, and collaborations—no more full-length albums.”
His reasoning stems from a desire for simplicity and effectiveness. Taking his recent release, Bangerville, as a case in point—a concise five-track EP—Sliqe emphasizes the importance of quality over quantity. “That’s why Bangerville is just five tracks. We eliminate the excess. In traditional albums, there are often great hits mixed with slow or serious songs—none of that. Just go straight for the impactful ones.”
This shift represents a notable change for a producer who has built his reputation on crafting intricate musical experiences. Now, his goal is straightforward: no fillers, no overthinking—just genuine, vibrant music. “I just want the fun,” he concludes.
