Following the arrest of four suspects connected to the murder of Oupa Sefoka, known as DJ Sumbody, his family has publicly addressed the situation.
DJ Sumbody was tragically shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in Woodmead, Johannesburg, on November 20, 2022.
“WE ARE RELIVING THE TRAUMA,” SAYS THE FAMILY
The Sefoka family released an emotional statement via the Be A Sumbody Foundation, reflecting on their grief and expressing gratitude for the support received since 2022.
“While the arrests mark progress toward justice, we find ourselves forced to relive the sorrow of his sudden departure,” said the family.
They emphasized the lasting pain this incident has caused and appealed to the public and media for privacy during this difficult time.
SEFAKO THANKS THE POLICE FOR THEIR EFFORTS
The family recognized the dedication of the South African Police Service, particularly the Gauteng’s Organised Crime Unit and Political Task Team, for their hard work.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to the South African Police Service, especially the Gauteng organised crime unit and the political task team, for their tireless endeavors in seeking justice,” the family stated.
“The commitment shown by law enforcement has been vital in this case, and we remain optimistic for a comprehensive legal process ahead.
“We would also like to thank South Africans and all supporters of DJ Sumbody and our foundation for their steadfast love, prayers, and backing. Your ongoing support has provided immense strength to our family.”

The four suspects made a brief appearance at the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. The case has been postponed to allow for further investigation.
They are facing three counts of murder related to the deaths of DJ Sumbody and his two bodyguards in November 2022.
