Lebo M stands in solidarity with Minnie Dlamini’s battle against Mac G and Sol Phenduka
<p renown producer and songwriter Lebo M has openly shown his backing for Minnie Dlamini as she confronts MacGyver “Mac G” Mukwevho regarding offensive comments made during his podcast.
Mac G faced backlash after asserting on air that Dlamini “is incapable of maintaining a relationship due to her unpleasant genital odor,” a vulgar comment that he and co-host Sol Phenduka dismissed as humor.
The remarks have sparked significant public outrage, leading to Phenduka’s suspension from Kaya 959 radio and Dlamini initiating legal proceedings.
The television personality is seeking R2.5 million in damages, with R1 million aimed at compensating the harm done to her reputation and dignity, and vowing that the additional R1.5 million be donated to a women’s advocacy organization.
“It has been heartbreaking to witness my name, body, and dignity being subjected to mockery in public discussions,” Dlamini articulated in a statement provided by her legal team.
With unwavering support for her, Lebo M and his foundation issued a statement denouncing Mac G’s comments and connecting this issue to the broader fight against gender-based violence.
“This fight goes beyond Minnie; it is a matter for all of South Africa,” the Lion King composer emphasized.
He expressed concerns that far too many women “live in fear due to the rampant nature of gender-based violence,” underscoring the need to ensure that “GBV can no longer be treated as a private concern hidden from view.”
