Tyla and Burna Boy surprised fans by meeting in Mexico after the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony, where Burna performed alongside Shakira for their collaboration Dai Dai.
Tyla had been designated as the singer for the South African national anthem prior to Bafana Bafana’s match loss.
In a photo shared by @yabaleftonline, both artists appeared cheerful while seated together on a couch.
Reactions on social media regarding Tyla and Burna’s image
There seemed to be no hostility between the two artists, despite past tensions between their fanbases due to Tyla receiving numerous international accolades while Burna Boy experienced some oversights. Nonetheless, many were unsettled by how often Tyla is associated with Afrobeats, even though she has stated she does not identify as part of that genre.
