Audiomarc Shifts Gears: Streamlining Live Shows to Prioritize Musical Growth

In a recent interview, the acclaimed DJ, producer, and A&R for Tall Racks Records shared his vision for the upcoming year. His remarks emphasized self-awareness and intention.

“I’m an OG now, so I’m going more into the business side of music,” he stated. “You won’t see me on stage like that anymore. I mean it. Champions know when to stop.”

This moment marks a critical juncture for an artist who has significantly influenced the hip-hop landscape in South Africa. Audiomarc has amassed an impressive body of work, from early tracks like “Catch It” to notable collaborations with Nasty C, including popular songs such as “Audio Czzle,” “Why Me?” featuring Blxckie, and the widely acclaimed “For Certain.”

Rather than withdrawing completely, Audiomarc is redefining his role. While he may reduce live shows, his creative spirit remains vibrant, now reflecting a more discerning and experimental approach.

“I’m still going to be dropping music,” he mentioned. “But I’m exploring different genres—my last single leans into Afro Soul. I don’t want to be boxed into just hip hop. The music will come, just not as often.”

This evolution signifies a new era of artistic exploration. No longer confined to high-energy hip-hop, Audiomarc is now welcoming a diverse array of sounds. His recent track “Kuba Mnyama,” which features Lumairsa and others, showcases his eagerness to blend styles and delve into more soulful, Afro-influenced music.

Longtime followers might feel a sense of nostalgia with fewer live performances. Nonetheless, many view this change as a sign of growth and foresight. In a field that often demands reinvention, Audiomarc’s choice appears to be a strategic pivot towards sustainability, not an exit.

“Champions know when to stop,” he reiterated. For Audiomarc, this transition is not an end but a reimagining of his journey into a more thoughtful, varied, and forward-looking phase.
