For a long time, Nondumiso Simelane has been a significant figure behind the scenes in the South African music industry. As the determined manager and sister to Gqom icon Babes Wodumo, Nondumiso spent her days in the spotlight, enduring public judgment and facing controversies. In a surprising development, she has chosen to transition from the nightlife to a life devoted to the church.
The former controversial media figure has discussed her major spiritual transformation, stating that she is stepping away from the party scene to engage in full-time religious work.
In a conversation with DailySUN about her life-altering decision to follow her calling in 2025, Nondumiso mentioned that the fast-paced entertainment lifestyle left her feeling unfulfilled, driving her to seek a more meaningful and permanent sense of peace.
“After I realised that I have a calling, I decided to pay attention to it. I’ve changed completely, and I’m certain God is happy with me.”
Previously, Nondumiso was known for her fiery temperament, particularly regarding Babes Wodumo. Now, she claims that those reactions belong to the past and that she no longer reacts to provocation.
She emphasized her upbringing in a strict family of church members, led by her father, Bishop Welcome Simelane, a notable church leader at the Mount Zion Faith Mission Church in Durban. She acknowledged that her previous behavior was inconsistent with her values.
“I come from a strict family; my parents are church leaders. My behaviour wasn’t representing my background; it was a shame.”
In 2024, she gained attention online and faced criticism for reportedly driving while intoxicated. That year, social media users urged Babes to consider distancing herself from her sister, citing concerns about Nondumiso’s turbulent past.
At this point, Nondumiso has left her eventful lifestyle and drama behind, having embraced a higher purpose in preaching the gospel. She mentioned that her outlook has transformed significantly, attributing the change to her newfound faith.
Social media admires Nondumiso Simelane’s music
Since beginning her music career in 2020, Nondumiso has shifted from Gqom music to focusing solely on gospel. According to DailySUN, she has a rich background in gospel music, having performed as a backup singer for artists such as Thinah Zungu and Nobathembu.
She actively shares videos on her Instagram account, showcasing her singing covers and connecting with fans who appreciate her remarkable talent.
