Softfootball reports that the South Africa national football team has officially left for their base camp in Mexico for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The team shared images of their check-in at the airport on their official X account, displaying players in green Adidas travel attire as they embarked on the journey.
This departure follows prior visa-related issues that prompted delays in the team’s travel plans. With the situation now resolved, head coach Hugo Broos can concentrate on preparations for South Africa’s opening match against the Mexico national football team on June 11.
They shared:
Bags packed. Tickets printed. World Cup dreams loading…The team is off to our base camp in Mexico! What is your ultimate message of support for the players before they land?

Using the hashtag #BafanaPride, the team encouraged supporters to send their messages ahead of the tournament, attracting responses filled with hope and expressions of encouragement. Many fans also noted support from South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, who had earlier voiced his backing for the team.
In other news, the Nigeria national football team arrived in Poland shortly after winning against Jamaica national football team 3-0 in London to clinch the 2026 Unity Cup for the fourth time.

Additionally, FIFA has recognized Mexico’s significant contribution to World Cup history for being the first country to host the tournament on two occasions, having previously organized the event in 1970 and 1986.
