Reality television personalities Beverly Steyn and Nonku Williams are currently involved in a legal dispute that underscores the decline of their previously close friendship.
The pair, known for their appearances on The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip South Africa, are now at odds over an alleged loan agreement. Beverly claims that Nonku has not repaid R125,000, which has led to the discord between them.
Documents submitted to the court reveal that the loan arrangement began in August of the previous year. It included an initial interest-free loan of R25,000 and a subsequent loan of R100,000, which incurred an interest rate of 50%.
Details of the agreement stated that Nonku was supposed to repay the full amount by 12 September 2025. If she missed this deadline, a significant monthly interest penalty of 30% would be implemented.
The case has moved to the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court, where Nonku has been summoned to pay R126,710 within ten days or to formally express her intention to contest the claim.
This additional amount accounts for legal expenses that Beverly has incurred by involving her attorneys.
In a statement she later removed, Nonku acknowledged the delay in repayment, citing personal and financial challenges as contributing factors.
“I’m a single mom for the longest time and anyone in my shoes knows how heavy that responsibility can be. There’s a constant pressure to provide the very best for your children, especially the things you never had growing up. I can go without anything, I always have, but my kids have to be taken care of. That has always been my priority,” she said.
She also emphasized that the matter was not intended to escalate into a public conflict, stating, “I also want to be clear about what actually transpired. As business owners know, payments can get delayed. That’s what happened here. I had every intention of paying her back fully. I have reached out to her previously and we were meant to resolve this matter privately.”
This situation, which began as a personal financial agreement, has evolved into a legal confrontation, severely damaging their former relationship.
