Blxckie Addresses Backlash Following Viral Interview Incident. The rapper has responded to the widespread attention that a recent episode at a Gold Plaque ceremony generated after footage emerged showing a content creator being removed while trying to interview him.
The video quickly gained traction on social media, igniting discussions among fans and critics. A reaction from Cartel Radio denounced the situation, with the host labeling it as “the weakest move by a superstar rapper in South Africa,” expressing astonishment over how things unfolded during what seemed to be an industry event.
In response, Blxckie, whose real name is Sihle Sithole, took to X to provide his perspective on the matter. He rejected the backlash, asserting that the content creator was inebriated during their interaction.
“😂😂😂 this nigga pulled up to me drunk, he is hiding a black label in his left hand in this exact vid. smelling like a tavern. was never gonna take him seriously. but aweh😂🥸,” he stated.
According to the Durban rapper, he found the proposed interview unfeasible as the individual approached him under the influence of alcohol, which impacted his willingness to engage. He emphasized that his decision was rooted in professionalism rather than a refusal to converse with the media.
This incident took place during a celebration marking Blxckie’s recent achievements. Since his rise in 2020 with the Clout Internet Boyz collective, he has emerged as a leading figure in South African hip hop. His debut album B4Now received Gold certification, and collaborations like “Ye×4” with Nasty C have solidified his status in the music industry. His association with Def Jam and his latest project, AURA ERA, further enhance his reputation.
As discussions continue on social platforms, opinions are polarized. Some users believe the encounter could have been managed differently, while others support Blxckie, asserting that artists have the right to establish limits and expect professionalism during interactions.
For Blxckie, this controversy seems to be just another topic trending on social media. He remains focused on his musical endeavors and, judging by his remarks, intends to move forward without letting a viral moment overshadow his achievements.
