This marks a notable change from their earlier intention to request bail.
Natasha Kara, spokesperson for the KwaZulu-Natal National Prosecuting Authority, confirmed the news, saying, “On their last appearance, they advised that they would want to make a bail application.
However, in court today, the accused abandoned their bail application.”
The Ndimande brothers are among seven individuals facing charges related to the murder of AKA and Tibz, who were shot and killed in February 2023 outside a well-known restaurant on Florida Road in Durban.
After the shooting, the brothers reportedly fled to Eswatini, where they were apprehended and subsequently extradited to South Africa in 2025.
They are currently in custody together with their co-defendants as the legal proceedings advance. The trial is scheduled to commence on 20 July 2026, with further phases likely to follow later in the year.
The state is expected to call numerous witnesses as it prepares its case.
