Cassper Nyovest has commended DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small for their achievements during the recent Scorpion Kings Live 2026 concert, which took place at FNB Stadium on Saturday, September 19.
The Scorpion Kings hosted their largest concert to date in Johannesburg, attracting over 74,000 attendees. The event showcased more than 70 artists throughout the night and highlighted the Amapiano genre along with various other South African musical styles.
After the concert, Cassper took to X to recognize the duo’s accomplishments and their effect on the local music scene.
“What Scorpion Kings did last night is monumental. That’s breathing life into the South African music industry as a whole. Celebrating a culture, genre and a people. The boys are blessed to have created this thing that now feeds so many families. I have nothing but respect!!!” he stated.
This acknowledgment follows DJ Maphorisa’s earlier remarks about Cassper’s influence in motivating large stadium concerts. During a segment on Tbo Touch’s Touch Down on Metro FM, Maphorisa pointed out Cassper’s success in filling stadiums and the impact it has had on other artists aspiring to produce similar events.
Cassper began his Fill Up series in 2015, becoming the first local act to fill the then 20,000-capacity Ticketpro Dome. He went on to sell out the Fill Up Orlando Stadium in 2016, and later took his show to the FNB Stadium in 2017.
While Cassper’s FNB Stadium concert in 2017 attracted around 68,000 attendees, it did not reach the venue’s maximum stated capacity. Nevertheless, his success set an important benchmark for South African artists hosting major concerts.
The recent Scorpion Kings Live concert contributes another significant chapter to this narrative. This event was billed as their largest yet, following prior stadium performances, including a sold-out show at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in August 2025.
For Maphorisa and Kabza, the FNB Stadium performance highlighted Amapiano’s prominence at a major South African music event, emphasizing the genre’s cultural significance and evolution.
The achievement at FNB Stadium also serves as a reminder of Maphorisa’s acknowledgment of Cassper’s stadium strategy in the past, while Cassper has now celebrated the duo for reaching similar heights with their own career.
This interaction underscores how aspirations for large-scale performances continue to influence the landscape of live music in South Africa.
