Chelsea is showing interest in acquiring Manu Koné from AS Roma, as speculation mounts regarding the potential departure of Enzo Fernández from Stamford Bridge.
Softfootball reports that Chelsea has initiated talks with Koné’s agents to investigate the feasibility of a transfer before the end of the transfer window.
The French midfielder is on Chelsea’s radar alongside Lamine Camara, with both players identified as key midfield targets. However, no substantial progress has been made at this moment.
Roma has maintained a firm stance, indicating they wish to retain Koné and have yet to receive any formal offers for the 25-year-old.
The situation at Chelsea is complicated by the uncertainty surrounding Fernández, who is reportedly amenable to joining Manchester City and has reached a preliminary agreement on personal terms with the Premier League club.
An official bid from City is anticipated soon, placing Chelsea in a position where they must consider if they are ready to entertain offers for one of their pivotal midfield players.
With Manchester City preparing their official bid, Chelsea will need to determine their approach regarding the potential exit of a key player from their squad.
Fernández is open to the idea of linking up again with Enzo Maresca, who previously worked with him at Chelsea and is keen on the possibility of coaching him again.
The Blues have also reached out to Lamine Camara’s representatives, with the midfielder from Monaco reportedly interested in a move to Chelsea. A face-to-face meeting between Chelsea and Monaco has already occurred to discuss the potential for a late transfer.
As the situation regarding Fernández evolves, Chelsea is actively evaluating a range of options.
Koné’s availability will hinge on Roma’s stance, but Chelsea is open to engaging in dialogue as they prepare for various outcomes ahead of the transfer window closing.
