DJ Fresh praises Xolani Khumalo’s ActionSA mayoral nomination
DJ Fresh, a well-known broadcaster and podcaster, has expressed his views on the discussion surrounding Xolani Khumalo’s selection as ActionSA’s candidate for mayor of Ekurhuleni.
Khumalo’s entry into politics has sparked considerable debate online, with numerous individuals weighing in on the suitability of the television figure for leadership.
During episode 259 of his What A Week (WAW) PoliTricks podcast, DJ Fresh contributed his insights about Khumalo’s image and his potential for leadership.
In conversation with co-host Botsang Moiloa, DJ Fresh stated that he does not regard Khumalo as a celebrity in the conventional sense.
“I don’t think he’s a celebrity. I think he’s an activist who had cameras follow him around, and as a result of that activism, he has become famous and celebrated. But to just reduce him to celebrity, I think, is disingenuous,” he said.
The former Metro FM presenter went on to commend ActionSA for their choice, describing it as a “master stroke,” and highlighting that the candidate exemplifies service and accountability.
“Someone passionate about serving people and keeping people safe. And if ever there was a mayoral candidate or a person who was perfect for that, it’s him,” he added.
