  • DJ Warras’ alleged murderers appeared at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 1 April 2026
  • The matter was postponed again, with the state indicating why it had requested more time
  • Some people criticised the police for arresting suspects before completing investigations, while others questioned the repeated delays and pace of the case

The state has identified the outstanding matters hindering DJ Warras’ murder case from advancing.

DJ Warras lost his life on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, following his murder in a suspected hit outside of a building that had been hijacked in Johannesburg.

Two men, Armindo Joaquim Pacula and Victor Majola, have been apprehended and charged with the well-known broadcaster’s murder.

DJ Warras’ murder trial delayed again due to incomplete investigations

The two suspects returned to the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 1 April 2026. During the session, the state noted that its investigations remain unfinished.

Factors such as financial details, facial recognition comparisons, call data, cellphone data retrieval, and crafting the indictment were still pending. Consequently, the case has been rescheduled to 27 May 2026.

Armindo Joaquim Pacula, the accused shooter and Victor Majola, alleged to have masterminded the plot, made their first joint court appearance in February after their separate arrests.

The case was previously postponed for continued investigation, with the prosecution revealing that video evidence and cellphone communications were still under review, alongside the ballistics report.

Majola was previously denied bail and is believed to be the individual who planned Warras’ assassination.

Authorities claim that Majola’s phone contained information about Warras’ vehicle and images of the deceased.

During Pacula’s arrest, it is alleged that police discovered severed dreadlocks and a bag purportedly used to hide the weapon during the murder.

Pacula’s defense attorney had indicated in court that his client planned to enter a guilty plea but needed time to examine the case files.

Public reacts to the repeated delays in DJ Warras’ case

Following the postponement to 27 May, reactions from the public were varied. Some criticized law enforcement for arresting individuals without sufficient evidence, while others condemned the state for its ongoing delays.

Here are some comments from social media:

@BukamuT expressed:

“Seems like they have got absolutely nothing. How did these guys get arrested then? And since their arrest, what has the state been doing if all these things are still outstanding?”

@MrQuarantines queried:

“I wonder what the state is doing when the matter gets postponed, because you can get all that information in less than a month? 😳”

@Thabo_RSA raised concerns:

“Why arrest if the investigation is not complete? What if the pending evidence does not link the accused?”

@devikhumalo noted:

“I hope the Ntanzi brigade now sees how important bank and call records are in a trial.”
