Dr. Phophi Ramathuba, the Premier of Limpopo, has expressed her support for the Cabinet’s decision to grant a license for the Fetakgomo-Tubatse Special Economic Zone (SEZ). She views this as a significant achievement that will enhance industrialisation, foster economic growth, and create jobs in Limpopo.
The issuance of the SEZ license marks a key advancement in the government’s strategy to position Limpopo as an attractive investment site and an industrial center, leveraging the province’s abundant mineral resources, advantageous geographic setting, and expanding infrastructure.
The Fetakgomo-Tubatse SEZ is anticipated to draw both local and international investors, especially in areas associated with mining, mineral processing, manufacturing, logistics, renewable energy, and other related sectors.
According to Premier Ramathuba, the Fetakgomo-Tubatse SEZ will function as a catalyst for inclusive economic change, promoting the processing of mineral resources, local industry development, and sustainable job opportunities for communities, with a focus on youth and women.
“This approval by Cabinet is a strong vote of confidence in Limpopo’s economic potential and our collective vision of building a capable, productive and industrialised provincial economy. The Fetakgomo-Tubatse SEZ will unlock investment opportunities, stimulate infrastructure development, and contribute meaningfully towards job creation and poverty reduction,” said Premier Ramathuba.
She also expressed gratitude to President Cyril Ramaphosa, the Cabinet, the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition, traditional leaders, municipalities, and all other stakeholders who played a role in making this development a reality.
