The champion of American Idol Season 3, Fantasia Barrino, has revealed that her upcoming album will mark her final release.
This unexpected announcement was made as the artist was gearing up for a live performance in Baltimore this week.
The When I See You artist was entering her venue for the Baltimore concert, warmly interacting with her crew, who were diligently preparing the sound system and other technical arrangements for the event.
“…I remember when I wasn’t even performing in arenas. I used to say, ‘God, wherever you lead me, that’s where I want to be’,” the 41-year-old artist stated in her video on Instagram.
“I’m just so thankful… So, we’ve arranged an incredible show,” she added while interrupting her live social media session to share her message.
“There’s a lot happening in the world, everyone. Thus, we provide fantastic performances to help folks escape, even if just for a moment,” Fantasia expressed.
<pThe singer then shocked her fans with the following revelation in the comment section.
“You heard it from me, I’m going to release my last album. I didn’t mention my last performances, just my last album.”
Fantasia’s achievements
Fantasia has released seven studio albums, with her latest being Sketchbook in 2019.
In addition to her music career, she has participated in numerous acting projects, most notably portraying Celie in the 2023 musical film adaptation of The Color Purple, which was produced by Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Scott Sanders, and Quincy Jones.
For her remarkable performance, she won the 2024 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture.
