Farewell Favorites: DStv Channels Set for 2026 Exits

Goodbye to DStv Gems: Channels Bidding Farewell in 2026

MultiChoice has revealed that a number of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) channels might be taken off DStv starting from 1 January 2026, as the two firms are still in negotiations and have not yet secured a new distribution deal.

This information was shared with customers on Monday night.

The existing contract between the broadcaster and WBD is set to conclude on 31 December 2025.

‘No deal finalised’

Although talks are still active, MultiChoice has confirmed that with merely a month remaining, no deal has been finalised. This uncertainty raises the potential for several popular WBD channels—including entertainments, lifestyle, children’s programming, and documentaries—to possibly vanish from the service at the beginning of next year.

In a statement, MultiChoice stressed its dedication to providing value and maintaining customer trust.

“Every time you subscribe, you trust us with your money, and we take that responsibility seriously,” the company remarked.

Reassured customers

MultiChoice assured customers that DStv offers an extensive array of local and international programming across various genres and is planning to enhance its offerings in 2026 with additional channels, services, and content.

“What matters most is ensuring that your viewing experience remains rich, diverse, and enjoyable,” the broadcaster pointed out, indicating that subscribers will still have access to “strong alternative channels across every genre” even if WBD content is phased out.

Those with questions are encouraged to reach out to MultiChoice’s customer support team or visit the company’s website for further information.

The broadcaster expressed gratitude to its subscribers for their continued support, stating: “We care deeply about delivering the best value for you and your family.”

The specific channels that face potential removal are believed to include:

  • Discovery Channel
  • TLC
  • Discovery Family
  • Real Time
  • TNT Africa
  • Food Network
  • HGTV
  • Travel Channel
  • Investigation Discovery (ID)
  • Cartoon Network
  • Cartoonito
  • CNN International
