Ferran Torres has expressed his desire for a Spanish player to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or following his recent transfer from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain.
During a guest appearance on El Hormiguero, Torres discussed the prestigious award but did not specify a particular player as his favorite. Still, the PSG forward conveyed his preference for a compatriot to claim the accolade.
“If a Spaniard wins it, even better,” Torres stated, indicating his strong wish while emphasizing that the ultimate choice rests with the voters.
Softfootball notes that Torres’ statement comes at a pivotal juncture in his career after his transfer from Barcelona to PSG in the summer.

The Spanish international departed Camp Nou after spending four and a half years with the Catalan club, where he made 207 appearances, netting 65 goals and securing seven trophies. His final season in Spain was notable, as he scored 16 goals in La Liga, earning him the Zarra Trophy alongside his Barcelona teammate Lamine Yamal.
PSG finalized a transfer agreement with Barcelona for Torres, with the deal initially reported at around €50 million, with additional bonuses and add-ons bringing the overall amount to nearly €55 million. This transfer also marks a reunion with Luis Enrique, his former coach with the Spanish national team.
Torres has already begun his journey in Paris on a positive note, aiming to further his growth under Enrique while competing against the top level of football.
Softfootball highlights that his preference for the Ballon d’Or could draw interest due to the significant number of Spanish players among this year’s nominees, which includes Lamine Yamal, Rodri, Pau Cubarsí, Marc Cucurella, Fabián Ruiz, and Torres himself.
