Finding Trust: Nasty C’s Decision to Make His Brother His Manager

Nasty C has discussed the choice to have his elder brother manage his career.

The rapper from Durban, whose full name is Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, candidly highlighted the significance of having someone trustworthy manage the business aspects of his brand.

As his career progressed and challenges increased, he came to understand that sheer talent wasn’t sufficient; he needed individuals who would genuinely advocate for his interests.

“I needed someone I could trust next to me,” he stated, underlining the personal nature of the bond between an artist and their manager.

For Nasty C, management encompasses much more than just securing performances or striking deals; it demands total transparency regarding creative visions and financial discussions.

“You know where your mind is at when you are working on the album. Who you really wanna work with. What things you want to do and not do for money,” he said, emphasizing the intricate relationship between passion and financial gain.

He was open about recognizing the commercial aspects of the music industry.

“Because that’s essentially what we are doing here. A bunch of stuff is for money. And also transparency with the money.”

The choice to hire a family member stemmed from prior negative experiences.

The rapper recounted that previous professional associations often left him feeling used rather than supported.

“They didn’t have my best interest at heart. They were working on their own thing. I was just a vehicle for them,” he admitted.

Having experienced the pressures of major labels and international stages, including projects like Zulu Man with Some Power,Nasty C now aims to establish a framework that emphasizes sustainability and control.

By entrusting his career to someone who understands him beyond his public persona, he believes he has laid the groundwork for a strategy that harmonizes business goals with his personal aspirations.
