The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Region 3 Sector 1 in Pretoria West, together with the Cable Theft Unit, apprehended five men linked to an armed robbery at the Forsig City of Tshwane Electricity Depot on 14 May 2026.
Acting on a tip-off regarding the robbery, TMPD officers arrived at the scene and discovered security guards being held against their will. The guards appeared to be in distress and reported that armed individuals had entered the depot in three trucks, stealing rolls of electrical cables.

A chase ensued, based on details of the vehicles involved, leading to the interception of one truck on Roslyn Road. Three suspects were apprehended and were found to possess two illegal firearms and a stolen roll of cable.
The suspects disclosed that another vehicle had escaped toward Soshanguve. This truck was later tracked down, along with six stolen cable rolls, and two additional suspects were taken into custody. Authorities also recovered a white Nissan NP200 believed to have been used as an escort vehicle.
The five individuals face charges of armed robbery, theft, and illegal possession of firearms. Authorities continue to investigate the active scene.
TMPD Chief Commissioner YCR Faro visited the location and commended the officers for their courage and commitment in addressing the situation promptly.
