Actress Shelati Sekhabi, known for her role in House of Zwide, has spoken out against untrue pregnancy rumors that have emerged online. She described the situation as intrusive, distressing, and mentally draining.
Sekhabi took to her Instagram Stories after the false claims gained enough momentum that people began confronting her in public settings.
Despite her initial decision to disregard the gossip, the rising belief in this fabricated narrative left her feeling compelled to set the record straight.
“I didn’t want to address this and make it a thing because there’s no truth to it, but so many people believe it. After having several strangers come up to me regarding this, it gets to a point,” she wrote.
The actress expressed clear frustration, highlighting the ease with which misinformation proliferates on social media.
She termed her experience as profoundly violating, questioning the motives of individuals who choose to propagate false stories about those they do not know.
“It’s just an extremely violating feeling knowing that somebody woke up and decided to create an image and a post about someone they don’t know, knowing it’s fake,” she said.
“Surely such a person is not okay upstairs.”
Visibly upset by the extent of the rumors beyond social media, the actress called on her followers to help combat the spread of the misinformation.
She urged supporters to report the posts that fuel these allegations and expressed gratitude to those who had already shown their support.
