The journey to the 19th Icebolethu Crown Gospel Music Awards officially commenced with an unforgettable All White Party held in Durban, where the eagerly awaited list of nominees was revealed.
With over 300 gospel music artists, members of the media, corporate executives, and social media influencers in attendance, the sophisticated evening honored both legendary figures and rising stars within African gospel music.
The event was a celebration of an exciting blend of novice talents and established icons in the industry.
Emerging artist Ndumiso Zungu garnered two significant nominations: Best Itende and the highly coveted Best Song of the Year for his popular track “Songena Ngemithandazo”.
The Umlazi Gospel Choir (The Original) also stood out as a formidable contender, securing three nominations, including a nod for Song of the Year for “Lalel’indaba”.
Ngcobo joined the fiercely competitive Song of the Year category, receiving thunderous cheers from the audience prior to delivering an impactful final performance to conclude the event.
This year’s nomination process was incredibly thorough.
From over 1,400 entries received from South Africa and beyond, only 250 artists made it to the final nominee roster.
The Best Newcomer category showcases the diverse talent of the industry, featuring six artists from various provinces.
The Crown Gospel Music Awards function as an essential national and continental platform. Icebolethu Group CEO Dr. Nomfundo Mcoyi-Zondo spoke to the gathering, expressing her pride in collaborating with the brand.
She underscored that the partnership is “more than business,” referring to it as a spiritual journey to honor and perpetuate the meaningful legacy of the late Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule.
Executive Producer Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule expressed his appreciation to the media and corporate partners for their contributions.
He called on gospel music enthusiasts nationwide to engage in the next stage of the awards.
“The nominees are now official. We encourage the public and gospel music lovers to buy their tickets, dress up, and come rejoice in His presence,” Nkambule remarked.
The main event is scheduled for 15 November 2026 at the ICC Durban.
Music aficionados can purchase tickets through Webtickets to experience the largest night in African gospel music.
