The judges for the event have extensive experience at various competitions. Judges Renegade (UK) and Storm (GER) were instrumental in developing the Trivium judging system, the foundation for the breaking judging criteria employed in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and its qualifiers. They will evaluate alongside Mark Kaweesi (UGA), Vee (RSA), and Menno (NED).
Based on the previous Undisputed event at the V&A, the audience is expected to be energetic. Enhancing the excitement for the breakers will be the MCs for the occasion, including MC Mario Bee (NED) paired with local MC Mel, who will contribute a unique local touch.
Vouks James, a prominent South African organiser and breaking figure, states, “Bringing international breakers to Cape Town gives our local scene exactly what it needs: exposure, inspiration and higher competition. The aim is to strengthen breaking in the country well beyond this event.”
The promoters from Instax will be present at the event, capturing images of attendees, ensuring they leave with an Instax print. Additionally, winners in various categories will each receive an Instax prize to commemorate their journey to Japan.
The event organizers have noted that there are still a few slots available for solo dancers and crews to register for the Cape Town Open Qualifier viaand8.dance. Dancers of all skill levels are encouraged to participate for a chance to compete in this event.
