Just a few years back, padel was relatively unknown in South Africa. Currently, new courts and clubs are being established throughout the nation, social leagues are expanding, and the enthusiasm for the sport continues to rise.
Heineken is contributing to the celebration of the sport’s evolution as the Premier Padel Pretoria P1 presents local audiences with their first chance to witness professional padel at a world-class level in their own country.
The Premier Padel Tour is making its debut in Pretoria, featuring many of the sport’s top international athletes and representing their inaugural visit to South Africa. This is a significant occasion for the country’s growing padel community and a chance for fans to engage with the sport at its peak.
“There’s something special about padel. It’s fast, accessible and incredibly social, and that’s a big part of why people have embraced it so quickly,” says Warrick Wyngaard, Marketing Communication Manager at Heineken. “As the sport continues to grow in South Africa, we wanted to be part of this milestone moment and give people the opportunity to experience the excitement of professional padel up close.”
More than a sponsorship
Heineken’s role extends beyond mere sponsorship. Through the Heineken Silver Courtside Club, spectators at the Premier Padel Pretoria P1 will experience hospitality aimed at bringing them closer to the game, with excellent court views, friendly company, and the enjoyment of a Heineken Silver and Heineken 0.0 amidst the lively atmosphere.
Rather than just observing the matches, the Courtside Club fosters an environment for fans to bond over their common passion for the sport and relish the vibrant energy that accompanies live sports events.
“We know some of the best sporting memories are created in the moments shared with other fans,” says Wyngaard. “The Courtside Club has been designed to enhance that experience, giving people a front-row seat to the action while creating a relaxed and enjoyable environment around it.”
Supporting a growing sport
Heineken views this timing as highly important. By supporting the first Premier Padel Pretoria tournament in South Africa, the brand is backing a sport that is steadily gaining traction locally, while also introducing even more individuals to the professional game.
“We’re proud to be part of this milestone,” Wyngaard concludes. “Premier Padel’s arrival in South Africa is an exciting moment for the sport and for local fans. We’re looking forward to helping make that experience even more memorable.”
