Mzansi reacts as Tebogo Mashego asks for help to return home from Nigeria
South African musician Tebogo Mashego, recognized for his popular song Biri Marung, has surprised his audience after announcing that he is currently trapped in Nigeria without funds.
The singer, who gained recognition as his catchy track became a favorite among medical professionals and school choirs, shared an emotional video that was posted on X on Friday, September 19, 2025.
In the footage, Mashego disclosed that his accompanying team had deserted him and failed to provide any financial support, leaving him in dire need of help.
“Life is difficult. I told them that I don’t want to come to Nigeria. Please help so I can come back home,” he pleaded.
The video went viral almost immediately, with South African social media users reacting in various ways.
While some expressed concern for the artist’s situation, others responded with jokes and skepticism.
@Sabelostormz remarked: “We don’t feel any remorse for anyone going to Nigeria; everyone knows that’s not a country. But you still get tricked into going there?”
