Murumba Pitch Makes a Comeback: Resilience After Onstage Setback in Zimbabwe

Murumba Pitch Rises Again: Overcoming Stage Setbacks in Zimbabwe
Amapiano musician Khathutshelo Mangolo, widely recognized as Murumba Pitch, is preparing for a return to Zimbabwe for another show, despite having been recently booed during a performance.

He was the main act at an event in Kadoma on 18 July, but the audience surprisingly turned against his set.

Nonetheless, Murumba Pitch is eager to stage a comeback in Zimbabwe in the near future.

Murumba Pitch returns to Zimbabwe

As per a report from Herald Online, Murumba Pitch is scheduled to perform alongside prominent South African artists Mafikizolo, The Soil, and Vusi Nova at this year’s Jacaranda Music Festival.

The festival, which carries the theme “Amplifying African Excellence,” is set to occur from 3 to 5 October at Thorn Park Polo Grounds in Harare.

Murumba Pitch’s stage fails in Zimbabwe

The Amapiano artist recently discontinued his collaboration with the Murumba Pitch duo to pursue a solo career and was appearing at Julyfest in Kadoma on 18 July 2025, coinciding with his birthday.

During an interview with Sol Phenduka on Podcast and Chill, Murumba Pitch expressed that he does not think the stage issue was related to xenophobia.

He mentioned that he couldn’t fault the audience as they appeared to favor a different musical style, particularly high-energy genres like dancehall.

According to him, the promoters had indicated that the crowd anticipated a different sound. He remarked that performing in Bulawayo and Harare is always a rewarding experience.

Should artists adapt to local tastes, or stay true to their sound?
