How Oscar Mbo Championed Ciza’s Rise with ‘Isaka’

Man-Gale May 16, 2026 3 minutes read

The South African musician Ciza has shared insights into the significant influence Oscar Mbo had on the inception of his music career. He revealed that the well-known producer backed him long before he gained recognition in the Amapiano genre.

In a recent interview on Metro FM, Ciza discussed his musical path and emphasized the importance of industry support during the emergence of his breakout hit “Isaka (6am).” This discussion coincides with the release of their new collaborative single, “Mngani Wam,” which is set to feature on Ciza’s forthcoming project titled Ciza’s Palace.

Ciza praised Oscar Mbo for his unwavering belief in him from the very start, particularly during a time when Ciza was working to make a name for himself in the industry. He noted that Mbo’s support was instrumental in introducing his music to a larger audience.

“Oscar Mbo supported me from day one, he’s one of the guys who helped Isaka blow up,” Ciza remarked.

<pThe artist further elaborated on how gaining performance opportunities contributed to increasing his visibility and fostering connections within the expanding Amapiano scene. He reminisced about a pivotal instance when he was invited to perform at one of Major League DJz's popular Balcony Mix events. The Balcony Mix series gained international acclaim during the COVID-19 lockdown, showcasing Amapiano and house music through upscale outdoor and rooftop performances.

Ciza stated that Oscar Mbo played a key role in creating that opportunity by allowing him to take the stage at one of these events.

“It actually blew up at one of the twins’ show, Balcony Mix. He put me on stage, gave me the shine at the time,” he explained.

This exposure marked a crucial juncture in Ciza’s career, leading to the rapid rise of “Isaka (6am)”, which eventually became a prominent track in the South African Amapiano landscape. Listeners resonated with the song’s vibrant energy, helping solidify Ciza’s position as an emerging voice in the genre.

Reflecting on their collaboration today, Ciza describes working with Oscar Mbo again as a moment of coming full circle. Their new track, “Mngani Wam,” not only highlights their musical synergy but also encapsulates the journey they have shared from Ciza’s early career days to their current achievements.

The interview has generated a positive response online, with numerous fans commending Oscar Mbo for his commitment to supporting rising talent and fostering the next wave of Amapiano artists.
