The family of the well-known Limpopo artist Kharishma has released an update regarding her health as she works towards recovery following a devastating car accident. The musician has remained away from the public eye since the incident on Friday morning, 31 October 2025, at the junction of Grobler and Magazyn Streets in Polokwane.
The crash resulted in the death of Kharishma’s driver, Vincent Maphopha (24), at the scene, while a passenger, Juddy Mabula (26), succumbed to injuries two weeks later. Months after addressing a viral claim about her booking status during the festive season, Kharishma’s family has communicated new details about her recovery.
Kharishma’s family provides update on her progress
On Tuesday, 23 June 2026, the singer’s family released a statement, assuring fans that she is making strides in her recovery. Nthekgeng Kgatla, Kharishma’s brother and the family’s spokesperson, noted that his sister, Melita Mogale, is receiving excellent medical care.
“Kharishma is at an advanced stage of recovery. She suffered serious injuries and has since been receiving the best medical care and support to ensure she recovers to her best self,” the brother said.
He also shared encouraging news, announcing that Kharishma has received another nomination despite the challenging path ahead. The vocalist, who previously achieved two nominations for the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) shortly after the car accident, is now nominated for three categories at the Basadi in Music Awards.
In the SAMAs, Kharishma was recognized alongside prominent artists, including the maskandi musician Mthandeni Sk and Amapiano artists like Tyler ICU, Pabi Cooper, Supta, and 2Pointl, among others.
Kharishma’s nominations include Music Video of the Year, Song of the Year, and Dance Music Artist of the Year. In the Artist of the Year category at the Basadi in Music Awards, she is competing against artists like Nigerian singer Ayra Starr, Mmatema, two-time Grammy winner Tyla, MaWhoo, Shandesh, Nkosazana Daughter, and Zee Nxumalo.
