Among those honoring him, artist and collaborator Khuli Chana shared a poignant video on Instagram filled with heartfelt emotion and appreciation. In the emotional clip, Khuli Chana remarked, “Long live Supa Mega. Live long, happy birthday from heaven. Thank you for the impact you made in my life, thank you for pouring in so much life, energy, creativity, and love. You were so loud about it, and I will mourn till I join you.”

This tribute emphasizes the bond between the two musicians, who collaborated on tracks such as “Bang” and “Prada,” merging their distinct styles to create defining moments in South African hip-hop. Khuli’s reference to AKA’s vibrant personality—“so loud about it”—summarizes the extraordinary charm that solidified Supa Mega’s legacy.

Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, known as AKA, was born on January 28, 1988, and was tragically killed on February 10, 2023, in Durban, just days after his 35th birthday. His death created a significant gap in the music industry, ending a career rich with hit songs, global recognition, and a strong commitment to promoting South African talent.

As AKA’s third “heavenly birthday” approaches, it serves as a reminder for many. Khuli Chana’s tribute video reflects a mix of celebration and sadness, encapsulated in his promise to “mourn till I join you,” highlighting the enduring sorrow alongside fond memories.
