Lady Du Empowers Thatohatsi: Honoring the Spirit of African Beauty

Lady Du continues to demonstrate her influence in the music world while also serving as a source of encouragement for other artists. Recently, following instances of body shaming and cyberbullying aimed at Thatohatsi, Lady Du delivered a strong and compassionate message of support, reminding her—and countless others—of their intrinsic worth, beauty, and purpose.

Thatohatsi has faced severe criticism and body shaming from podcasters such as Sfiso and Nota on Piano Pulse. These remarks have had a profound impact on the rising star, who had been striving for self-acceptance and confidence after previously grappling with her self-image. The negative attention has reportedly led her to withdraw emotionally, reopening difficult feelings she had been working to overcome.

In an act of solidarity, Lady Du took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message addressed to Thatohatsi. She expressed, “You are a true representation of African beauty, your confidence will give every young skinny girl a chance to feel beautiful in their body.” Lady Du further highlighted the unrealistic beauty standards prevalent in society, arguing that many have been sold an inaccurate portrayal of the “perfect body,” which leads to discomfort in their own skin.

She stressed that all body types are valid and pointed out that God does not create anything imperfect. “The Bible says you are made in God’s image,” she noted, reinforcing that true beauty transcends trends and is rooted in divine creation. Lady Du also acknowledged that individuals should feel free to make choices about their bodies to enhance their confidence, free from judgment or shame.

Addressing more than just physical attributes, Lady Du recognized Thatohatsi’s potential and vocation. She described her as a star, an international supermodel, and a gifted vocalist, emphasizing that those who are chosen by God often encounter the most significant challenges. “Right now the devil is trying to shake you, don’t allow it,” she urged, reminding her that God uplifts those who are undervalued.

Additionally, Lady Du shared her personal journey of growing up as a slender girl and how she learned to accept her body, even during moments of low self-esteem. She concluded her message with a statement of love and unity: “We love you sis.”

During challenging times like these, voices like Lady Du’s carry immense importance. Her words serve as a reminder that encouragement can mend, uplift, and rescue. In a moment when Thatohatsi required support the most, Lady Du not only acted as a fellow artist but also as a sister—demonstrating that kindness and encouragement can hold just as much weight as artistic talent.
