Lamiez Holworthy has addressed the increasing talk regarding a woman resembling her, taking a stand against the controversy after the doppelganger began hurling insults at fans online.
The drama began when social media users pointed out a TikTok creator, known as @ruralzulugirl_stylist, whose physical appearance, including her hairstyle, tattoos, and fashion selections, closely resemble that of the Metro FM DJ.
Fans tagging Lamiez grew in number, with some even suggesting a potential meeting or collaboration between the two.
What started as a lighthearted observation turned into a more serious matter when the woman allegedly responded harshly to commenters.
Rather than embracing the similarities, she reacted negatively, using offensive language towards those who noted the resemblance.
After monitoring the situation, Lamiez decided to address the matter.
In her social media comments, she expressed that initially, she found the comparisons to be somewhat unsettling but ultimately flattering.
“It creeped me out a bit, but overall I found it flattering,” she shared.
However, her feelings shifted when her followers became targets of offensive remarks.
“I think it’s just getting out of hand because this lady has now resorted to swearing at people who innocently mention her looking like me, and every response has my name along with a vulgar slur in it,” she remarked.
To clarify her position, Lamiez shared what she referred to as “receipts,” posting side-by-side images to suggest that the woman had been imitating her style.
Pointing out specific timelines in her posts, she stated, “Please kindly pay attention to the dates of these posts. 2018 vs 2020… Again, my issue isn’t the fact that she mimicked me; my issue is in her blatantly denying it, swearing at innocent people and alluding to the fact that I copied her instead. Where’s the hair and tattoos in 2020?”
Her comments quickly garnered support, as many fans echoed her sentiment and criticized the lookalike’s actions.
Some labeled the situation as unnecessary, while others argued that the woman should not take offense to comparisons that she appeared to endorse with her styling choices.
