Well-known South African YouTuber and influencer Lasizwe Dambuza has entered a mental wellness retreat, candidly discussing his battles with burnout and depression.
“This year has been mentally challenging. I’m burnt out. I’m depressed,” Dambuza mentioned to his audience in a social media update on Tuesday after reaching the facility.
He informed followers that he would be at the retreat for several weeks, during which he will be offline and unable to engage with them throughout the holiday period, including Christmas, as he won’t have access to his phone while there.
“I wish people could take mental health seriously. And to you watching this, please find someone in your community, in your family, your friendship, to speak to regarding your feelings, your emotions. Find professional help,” he advised those who might be facing similar issues.
“We’re back here again,” he remarked, reminding people that this is not the first occasion he has voluntarily sought help at a wellness center.
In his post’s caption, Dambuza disclosed that he has entrusted his social media accounts to his management team, who will oversee them while he concentrates on his recuperation.
“I’m surrounded by professional help and can’t wait to come home stronger and ready to kick off the new year stronger!” the YouTuber wrote.
Just a few weeks prior, the 27-year-old suggested that he would be taking a break this December. In a conversation with Independent Media, he stated, “This festive season, I am out. I am going to regenerate, get back my energy so that in January I can kill it like I killed it this year.”
Looking to the future, Dambuza also expressed his aspirations. When asked about his plans for 2026, he revealed that he is eager to become a father.
“There is one big project I am working on – I am working on getting pregnant,” he noted.
