Liverpool Secures 2-0 Victory Over Ipswich with Isak’s Early Double

Liverpool secured their first triumph of the 2026-27 Premier League season by defeating Ipswich Town 2-0. Alexander Isak was the standout player, netting both goals within the opening nine minutes, both assisted by Cody Gakpo, thus ending the team’s six-match winless streak.

The match was effectively decided in its early minutes, with Alexander Isak playing a crucial role. The Swedish forward took advantage of two assists from Cody Gakpo, finding the net in the 6th and 9th minutes to establish a 2-0 lead for Liverpool. Ipswich attempted to mount a comeback in the second half, creating a few chances, but Liverpool maintained their structure and preserved their lead. Bradley Barcola made his debut as a substitute, contributing to Liverpool’s much-needed three points after a challenging stretch.

Liverpool set the pace early in the game, with Gakpo repeatedly locating Isak behind the Ipswich defense. The Swedish striker executed both chances with precision, scoring early to give Liverpool the advantage.

After halftime, Ipswich found some rhythm, with players like Julio Enciso and Abdul Fatawu displaying moments of potential, yet they were unable to capitalize on their opportunities against Alisson. Liverpool effectively controlled the match, and with the debut of Bradley Barcola, they secured three essential points.

In their previous match, Liverpool had to settle for a draw at Anfield, managing to redeem themselves twice to end in a 2-2 tie with Nottingham Forest in an exciting Premier League clash.
